Job summary

Cardinal Health is seeking a Cloud Database Engineer to support WaveMark Solutions, a healthcare SaaS platform. This remote US role focuses on reliability, performance, security, and automation of cloud databases. You’ll work with software and IT teams to drive continuous delivery, observability, and robust backup strategies.

The ideal candidate will manage Oracle and other databases, ensure regulatory compliance, and help modernize deployment automation in a healthcare setting.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience managing production Oracle databases in healthcare.
• Experience with Oracle DB administration and cloud databases (AWS RDS, GCP).
• Knowledge of automation, scripting, deployment processes.
• Observability frameworks and telemetry-driven operations knowledge.
• Familiarity with SRE principles (SLIs, SLOs, error budgets).
• CI/CD platforms and Infrastructure as Code experience.
• Understanding healthcare compliance standards (HIPAA, FedRAMP, HITRUST).
• Familiarity with CDC technologies and data masking is a plus.
• Experience in Kubernetes-based environments and data movement architectures.
• Strong troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Administer Oracle (primary), MySQL, and PostgreSQL databases in cloud environments.
• Build monitoring, auditing, logging, and alerting for database health.
• Maintain runbooks, standards, and documentation.
• Support application deployments and database releases.
• Analyze and optimize performance in production and non-prod.
• Perform root cause analysis of incidents.
• Automate database refresh across environments.
• Automate data masking for non-prod environments.
• Collaborate on regulatory audits and security initiatives.
• Enhance data governance, patching, and access controls.
• Partner on deployment automation and data movement architectures.
• Design backup, restore, replication, and RPO/RTO strategies.
