Job summary

Cardinal Health seeks a Cloud Database Engineer to support WaveMark Solutions, a mission-critical healthcare platform. You will own production and non-production reliability, uptime, performance, security, automation of maintenance tasks and deployments in cloud databases.

You will work with software and IT teams to drive observability, resilience, and continuous delivery practices across Oracle environments and related technologies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in a related field.
• 5+ years managing production Oracle databases in a regulated healthcare environment.
• Experience with Oracle DB administration and cloud platforms such as AWS RDS or GCP.
• Knowledge of database automation, scripting, and deployment processes.
• Familiarity with observability frameworks and telemetry-driven operations.
• Understanding of CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, and SRE principles.
• Knowledge of healthcare compliance standards (HIPAA, FedRAMP, HITRUST).

Responsibilities

• Administer Oracle (primary), MySQL, and PostgreSQL databases in managed cloud environments.
• Build and manage monitoring, auditing, logging, and alerting systems for database health.
• Establish and maintain operational standards, documentation, and runbooks.
• Support application deployments and database releases.
• Analyze and optimize database performance across environments.
• Perform root cause analysis of performance incidents.
• Design and automate database refresh and data masking processes.
• Collaborate with security, compliance, and application teams for audits.
• Enhance data governance, patching, secret management, and access controls.
• Partner with development teams to modernize deployment automation and data movement architectures.
• Design and test backup, restore, replication, and recovery strategies.
