Job summary

GovCIO is seeking a Cloud Data & Automation Engineer to guide migration and ongoing management of a vast evidentiary data environment within AWS GovCloud. You will lead data migration, automation, storage lifecycle management, replication, archival, and secure data movement across AWS, Azure, and on-premises systems.

The role requires strong Python, AWS CLI, S3/Glacier, DataSync, and NetsApp ONTAP/SnapMirror experience, with focus on scalable, cost-efficient data operations and collaboration

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Data Engineering, Engineering, or related field plus 8+ years of experience.
• 5+ years of experience in cloud engineering, data engineering, or cloud automation.
• 3+ years of hands-on AWS experience.
• Experience in AWS GovCloud or regulated cloud environments.
• Strong Python scripting and AWS CLI experience.
• Hands-on experience with Amazon S3, DataSync, Glacier lifecycle policies.
• Experience with NetApp ONTAP/SnapMirror and large-scale data migrations.
• Ability to design automated data movement, validation, archival, and retrieval processes.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Python and AWS CLI automation for cloud data operations.
• Design, execute, and troubleshoot large-scale data migration and transfer workflows.
• Support AWS DataSync workflows for high-volume data transfers.
• Configure and manage Amazon S3 storage and lifecycle policies.
• Implement and support S3/Glacier archival and retrieval workflows.
• Support NetApp ONTAP and SnapMirror replication activities.
• Migrate active datasets to FSx ONTAP and historical datasets to S3/Glacier.
• Automate data movement, synchronization, validation, archival, and retrieval processes.
• Monitor and troubleshoot large-scale data transfers and storage operations.
• Manage and optimize cloud storage, transfer, archival, and retrieval costs.
• Support secure data flows between AWS, Azure, and on-premises systems.
• Develop scripts, runbooks, and technical documentation.
• Coordinate with cloud infrastructure and VA teams to ensure scalability.
