Job summary

Jobot is seeking a Senior Civil/Structural Engineer to support utility-scale solar and battery storage EPC projects. The role is remote with monthly office visits and site travel as needed.

You will lead civil/structural design from preliminary through IFC, review grading and drainage, and guide teams to optimize constructability and cost. A strong background in EPC and solar design is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent education and experience.
• Solar or power systems design experience on utility-scale ground mount projects is preferred.
• EPC experience; exposure to both civil engineering firm and EPC environments is a strong plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead civil and structural design on utility-scale solar and BESS projects from preliminary design through IFC and construction, keeping deliverables on schedule.
• Review and validate grading, stormwater, drainage, roads, foundations, and racking systems for compliance, constructability, and cost.
• Serve as the subject matter expert on civil and structural design, including grading, drainage, roads, foundations, and geotechnical considerations.
• Run structured design reviews at 30%, 90%, and IFC milestones.
• Find and resolve risks, gaps, and inconsistencies in design packages before they reach the field.
• Evaluate design decisions for constructability, installation efficiency, and cost impact.
• Give technical guidance to internal teams, external engineering partners, and subcontracted engineers.
• Coordinate with customers, developers, AHJs, and external engineering firms, and support permitting and jurisdictional compliance.
• Escalate design risks that affect schedule, cost, or constructability.
• Visit sites to verify field conditions, catch what drawings miss, and support field issues during construction.
• Review past projects to find what didn't work and build those lessons into future designs.
