Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Remote Chief Safety Officer to lead HSE programs across mining operations worldwide. You will develop, implement, and oversee policies for health, safety, and environment, driving a zero-harm culture from a fully remote capacity.

The role requires 10–15 years in HSE with at least 5 years in senior leadership within mining, plus strong regulatory knowledge and remote collaboration skills. A master’s degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
• Master’s degree preferred (health, safety, engineering or environment).
• Proven track record in global HSE program delivery across mining operations.
• Experience with ISO 45001 and international mining regulations.
• Strong leadership and remote collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a global HSE strategy aligned with company objectives and regulatory requirements.
• Establish and maintain comprehensive safety management systems across all mining sites.
• Conduct remote audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations to identify hazards and implement corrective actions.
• Develop and deliver engaging safety training programs for remote and on-site teams.
• Promote a proactive safety culture through leadership visibility and engagement.
• Ensure compliance with national and international HSE regulations.
• Collaborate with site management to implement site-specific safety plans.
• Analyze safety data to identify trends and KPI-driven improvements.
• Lead responses to safety emergencies and ensure robust contingency plans.
• Advise senior management on HSE performance.
