Placements24 is seeking a Remote Chief Safety Officer to lead HSE programs across mining operations worldwide. You will develop, implement, and oversee policies for health, safety, and environment, driving a zero-harm culture from a fully remote capacity.

The role requires 10–15 years in HSE with at least 5 years in senior leadership within mining, plus strong regulatory knowledge and remote collaboration skills. A master’s degree is preferred.

Qualifications

About the Role

Our client, a global leader in sustainable mining practices, is revolutionizing how safety is managed across its international operations. We are seeking an exceptional and forward-thinking Remote Chief Safety Officer to lead our comprehensive safety initiatives. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to leverage your expertise from anywhere. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies and procedures for our diverse mining operations worldwide. This senior leadership role requires a strategic mind capable of driving a zero-harm culture through innovative safety strategies, comprehensive risk assessments, and effective training programs. You will work closely with site management, corporate leadership, and regulatory bodies to ensure the highest standards of safety are met and maintained, regardless of physical location.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Advanced degree (Masters or PhD) is preferred.
• Minimum of 10-15 years of progressive experience in HSE management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role within the mining industry.
• Proven track record in developing and implementing successful global safety programs.
• In-depth knowledge of international safety standards (e.g., ISO 45001) and mining regulations.
• Demonstrated ability to foster a strong safety culture and drive behavioral change.
• Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and strategic planning skills.
• Excellent remote communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse teams.
• Proficiency in safety management software and data analysis tools.
• Experience in managing safety for diverse mining operations (underground, open pit).
• Must be comfortable and effective working in a fully remote capacity.
