Placements24 is seeking a Chief Mine Surveyor for a fully remote leadership role overseeing surveying and spatial data management for global mining projects. You will guide advanced surveying technologies, GIS platforms, and data workflows to support exploration, mine planning, and operational execution.

The ideal candidate has 12+ years in mine surveying with leadership experience, PLS, and a strong track record managing remote teams across multiple sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Surveying, Geomatics, or related field.
• Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) certification required.
• Minimum 12 years of progressive mine surveying experience, with leadership experience.
• Experience managing remote teams across multiple sites.
• Proficiency with GPS/GNSS, LiDAR, photogrammetry, and field equipment.
• Proficiency with Trimble Business Center, AutoCAD Civil 3D, ArcGIS/QGIS.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management; autonomous remote work.

Responsibilities

• Establish and oversee best practices for mine surveying across surface and underground.
• Lead development and implementation of spatial data management strategies.
• Manage and mentor a remote team of mine surveyors and technicians.
• Ensure accurate capture, processing, and reporting of survey data for modeling and planning.
• Oversee calibration and maintenance of surveying equipment and software.
• Collaborate with geological, engineering, and operations teams to integrate spatial data.
• Develop and implement quality control procedures for surveying data.
• Stay abreast of surveying tech, GIS, and remote sensing developments.
• Prepare reports on spatial data integrity and resource delineation.
• Ensure surveying activities comply with policies and standards.
