Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Certified Pharmacy Technician to evaluate and authorize approval of commercial prior authorization pharmacy requests from prescribers using clinical criteria in a call center environment. This is a 100% remote, contract-to-hire position based out of New Orleans, LA.

The role involves 8-hour shifts between 7:15 am CST and 9 pm CST, five days a week, with a pay range of $18.00 - $22.00 per hour and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• State registration/license.
• National Pharmacy Technician Certification required (PTCB or NHA).
• 1+ years of experience in retail or call center pharmacy environment.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and authorize approval of pharmacy requests based on clinical criteria, documenting prior authorization outcomes and communicating pharmacy benefit coverage and formulary alternatives.
• Determine the appropriateness of medications and communicate decisions to physicians, office staff, medical management, and pharmacists.
• Escalate requests requiring extensive clinical review to a pharmacist following clear guidelines.
