Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Fully Remote Certified Pharmacy Technician to evaluate and authorize prior authorization requests in a call center environment. You will document outcomes, communicate coverage and formulary alternatives, and determine medication appropriateness with physicians and office staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• State registration/license is required.
• National Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB or NHA) is required.
• 1+ year of experience in retail or call center pharmacy environment.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and authorize approval of pharmacy requests based on clinical criteria, documenting prior authorization outcomes and communicating pharmacy benefit coverage and formulary alternatives.
• Determine the appropriateness of medications and communicate decisions to physicians, office staff, medical management, and pharmacists.
• Escalate requests requiring extensive clinical review to a pharmacist following clear guidelines.
