Mosaic Life Care is seeking a Clinical Documentation Integrity Specialist (RN) to perform basic-to-intermediate workflow reviews of clinical documentation for hospital admissions. You will abstract data, assign ICD-10-CM/PCS codes, and determine DRG baselines, collaborating with physicians as needed.

The role requires RN licensure (state or compact), 3 years ICU/critical care experience, and CDI certifications.

• Conducts basic to intermediate initial, concurrent and retrospective reviews of clinical documentation, abstracts data, and uses Official Coding Guidelines.
• Assigns and updates ICD-10-CM/PCS codes and DRG determinations with documentation.
• Identify need to clarify documentation and query providers to capture accurate documentation.
• Review denials and prepare first/second level denial appeals with physician advisor.
• Participate in staff training and quality improvement activities and collaborate with coders for accuracy.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to ensure accurate documentation and coding.

Responsibilities

• Conducts basic to intermediate initial, concurrent and retrospective reviews of clinical documentation for admissions; abstracts data from charts and systems.
• Assigns ICD-10-CM/PCS codes and DRG/APR-DRG baselines; reviews and documents in integrity system.
• Identifies need to clarify documentation and initiates provider queries to capture accurate patient care records.
• Reviews clinical validation denials and prepares first/second level appeal recommendations with physician advisor.
• Partners with physicians and coding staff; participates in rounds and interdisciplinary team conferences.
• Supports professional development through webinars and online trainings; strives to meet CDI quality and productivity goals.
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
