Job summary

Mosaic Life Care in Austin, TX, is seeking a Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) RN to perform CDI reviews, author queries, and participate in two levels of appeals to support accurate coding. The role requires ICU/critical care nursing experience and CDI functions exposure.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Nursing is required.
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is preferred.
• 3 years of clinical ICU/critical care experience required.
• 1 year in clinical documentation integrity functions preferred.

Responsibilities

• Complete basic to intermediate CDI reviews and re-reviews, submit queries to providers, complete first and second appeal levels.
• Evaluate and partner with physician advisor on first and second level appeals, denial tracking.
• Rounding on patients, mortality reviews and second level reviews are also performed.
• Review and assign ICD-10-CM/PCS codes and determine DRG based on Official Coding Guidelines.
• Conduct basic to intermediate initial, concurrent and retrospective reviews of clinical documentation.
• Abstract data from charts and systems using documentation and Official Guidelines.
• Communicate with coders to ensure correct DRG and participate in team conferences.
• Participate in staff training and quality improvement activities.
