Job summary

Greenbrook Medical is seeking a Manager, Clinical Documentation Integrity to lead the CDI team responsible for accurate, complete, compliant, and defensible documentation. This hands-on leadership role requires deep knowledge of risk adjustment and HCC coding, and a passion for coaching people and building better systems.

You will oversee daily CDI operations, set quality targets, guide onboarding, and collaborate with physicians, Medical Records, and operational teams to ensure CMS-HCC

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in clinical documentation integrity, risk adjustment, or HCC coding, including Medicare Advantage population experience.
• Experience leading, coaching, or supervising others and holding a team accountable to clear performance standards.
• Deep knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CMS-HCC risk-adjustment methodology, including V24 and V28.
• Experience working with physicians and clinical teams on documentation quality.
• Active coding credential such as CRC, CPC, CCS, RHIT, or RHIA.
• An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, nursing, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Experience working with EHRs and CDI, coding, or risk-adjustment platforms.
• Strong judgment navigating complex situations.

Responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day operations of Greenbrook's CDI review processes (prospective and concurrent).
• Set expectations and ensure quality, productivity, and turnaround-time standards.
• Monitor queues and workflow daily; identify bottlenecks early.
• Lead team huddles, 1:1s, coaching conversations, and performance reviews.
• Manage schedules, coverage, and time-off to maintain smooth operations.
• Provide technical guidance on coding questions and escalations.
• Own onboarding for new CDI specialists and ramp-up plans.
• Develop training resources, reference materials, and onboarding workflows.
• Audit onboarding to determine readiness for full assignment.
• Coach team members on technical knowledge, quality, productivity, and growth.
• Foster feedback-heavy environment with clear performance criteria.
• Track performance across accuracy, quality, production, turnaround time; identify trends and root causes.
• Deliver timely coaching and address performance issues with accountability.
• Partner on audits, scoring, and quality improvement with CDI Oversight.
• Promote data-driven, fair performance evaluation.
• Identify workflow breaks and lead practical solutions.
• Improve SOPs, workflows, and documentation standards.
• Create coding best practices and internal guidance to scale work.
• Collaborate with physician leadership to support accurate documentation.
• Ensure ICD-10-CM, CMS-HCC, payer policies compliance; support RADV and audits.
• Maintain documentation and coding practices that are accurate, complete, and defensible.
• Support audit readiness with thorough, defensible documentation and coding.
