Job summary

CCPN Cook Children’s Physician Network seeks a Certified Coding Specialist I to review medical records, assign ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 codes, and ensure accurate, timely coding for ambulatory surgery, clinics, and ED records. Collaboration with physicians and teams ensures compliant documentation and coding accuracy.

The role requires knowledge of ICD/CPT guidelines, EMR systems, and encoder tools, with a focus on accuracy and continual learning in a dynamic healthcare environment.

Qualifications

• CCS or CPC preferred for coding accuracy
• Knowledge of ICD-10-CM & CPT-4 rules and guidelines
• Experience with EMR, coding encoders, and healthcare terminology

Responsibilities

• Code a mix of ambulatory surgery, clinic visits, ED and observation records with ICD-10-CM and CPT-4
• Assign codes to the highest level of specificity based on physician documentation
• Communicate with physicians about documentation requirements
• Keep current knowledge of coding rules and guidelines across departments
