Job summary

Keystone Experts & Engineers is seeking experienced Building Consultants for a fully remote, part-time 1099 contract. The role focuses on evaluating property damage, preparing professional estimates and reports, and delivering expert insights for insurance carriers, attorneys, and other stakeholders.

The ideal candidate has hands-on construction or mitigation background, proficiency with Xactimate and related tools, and the ability to provide objective, detailed evaluations within tight

Qualifications

• Experience in general contracting, construction, or mitigation.
• Hands-on experience with insurance repairs or claims estimating.
• Proficiency in estimating methods (time & materials) and software-based systems.
• Ability and willingness to travel for field inspections and CAT events.
• Strong written communication to produce detailed reports.

Responsibilities

• Receive and respond to assignments, scheduling inspections promptly.
• Conduct onsite property inspections often with engineers within 7 days.
• Access roofs, crawlspaces, and challenging environments for full evaluations.
• Prepare detailed photo reports, cost estimates (Xactimate or similar), and written reports within 7 days post-inspection.
• Collaborate with Managing Building Consultant during review and approval, with 24-hour responses.
• Occasionally travel for CAT event evaluations.
• Participate in joint inspections and communicate with policyholders, engineers, and adjusters.
• Provide expert witness testimony when required, based on construction experience.
