Job summary

ALSO is seeking a Billing Specialist to support accurate, timely payments for services across multiple lines. You will collaborate with service leaders to resolve billing barriers, maintain detailed records, and improve workflows while ensuring confidentiality and compliance.

The role balances office and remote work, with a standard 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Pacific Time schedule. Prior billing experience with eXPRS, Therap, or similar systems is helpful.

Qualifications

• Accuracy when reviewing records, entering data, and matching information across spreadsheets or systems.
• Ability to organize recurring deadlines, track unresolved items, and follow through with colleagues.
• Practical problem-solving skills and the judgment to ask questions or escape when records do not support a claim.
• Clear, respectful communication and care with confidential information.
• Comfort learning software and using spreadsheets to organize, compare, and review data.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate recurring billing for residential, supported living, community, in-home, employment, and behavior support services using eXPRS, Therap, Excel, and approved records.
• Check that claims and invoices match verified services, current authorizations, and approved rates before submission.
• Investigate rejected, suspended, denied, and unpaid claims. Identify missing billing, payment differences, and potential duplicates, and document follow-up.
• Maintain authorization details, billing registers, reconciliations, and a shared calendar so Finance and service leaders can see what is complete and what needs attention.
• Partner with service leaders to obtain reviewed documentation and resolve billing barriers. Escalate issues requiring approval to the Financial Controller.
• Improve approved billing workflows, document procedures, test system changes, and maintain data for financial and operational reporting.
