Render is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager for Billing to lead the billing engineering team and own the end-to-end usage-based billings platform, including metering, data pipelines, and invoicing integrations with Orb, Metronome, Stripe, or similar.

You’ll partner with Finance, Product, and Customer Experience to align pricing, reporting, and customer needs, while hiring and mentoring engineers and making key architectural decisions for scalable separation between pricing launches and

Qualifications

• Hands-on enough to review code, prototype, and contribute directly when it helps the team.
• Comfort operating in ambiguity, with adaptability and a growth mindset.
• Proven experience building and scaling teams, ideally growing a group from a handful of engineers into a larger org.
• Experience managing engineers; including senior and staff engineers; hiring, and performance management.
• Hands-on experience with usage-based billing, payments, or other revenue-critical systems, including third-party platforms like Orb, Metronome, or Stripe.
• Ability to partner closely with Finance, Product, and Customer Experience without needing to fill those functions yourself.
• Strong business instincts, with the ability to connect engineering investment to billing accuracy, revenue, and customer trust.

Responsabilités

• Lead and grow the Billing engineering team, which owns how Render turns platform usage into accurate charges: usage capture, data pipelines, third-party billing platforms (Orb, Metronome, Stripe, or similar), and invoicing
• Own the roadmap for Render’s billing systems, from usage metering through invoicing, reconciliation, and financial reporting
• Drive billing correctness and reliability: build the monitoring, reconciliation, and testing that catch errors before customers do
• Partner with Finance, Product, and Customer Experience to align the roadmap with pricing, reporting, and customer needs
• Hire and develop engineers to support planned team growth, while keeping the team’s focus clear as billing scope expands
• Make key architectural decisions, balancing long-term billing platform investment against near-term pricing launches and fixes
• Build a strong performance management and career development practice for a team that includes senior ICs
