Job summary

Cloudflare is seeking a Senior Director of Engineering for its Billing Platform to lead a multi-team engineering organization responsible for usage-based billing, subscriptions, invoicing, and payments. You will own the technical strategy, architecture, and operational health, partnering with Product, Finance, and Legal to deliver trusted, scalable solutions.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of software engineering experience with 7+ years leading engineering teams
• Experience leading billing, payments, fintech, or other audit-critical platforms
• Strong judgment in distributed systems, SaaS, APIs, and data pipelines
• Proven ability to define and execute multi-year platform strategy across teams
• Experience with usage-based billing, invoicing, payments, and tax handling
• Familiarity with Stripe, Salesforce, ERP, tax engines, and BI tools

Responsibilities

• Own the multi-year engineering strategy and execution roadmap for billing platform
• Lead a distributed organization of engineering managers and tech leaders
• Coach managers and strengthen technical leadership and planning
• Drive architecture improving correctness, scalability, and reliability
• Build systems for usage-based billing, subscriptions, invoicing, payments, and entitlements
• Strengthen financial data integrity across billing, revenue and ERP systems
• Improve observability, SLOs, incident response, and operational controls
• Partner with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into durable systems
• Make build/buy decisions across billing, payment, tax, ERP, and CRM platforms
• Represent billing engineering in executive forums with clear tradeoffs and status
