Job summary

Ladders is seeking a Software Engineering Manager, Billing, to lead and scale the billing engineering function. This hands-on leadership role focuses on usage-based charges, accurate invoicing, and reliable financial reporting in a remote setup.

You will guide a team that collaborates with Finance, Product, and Customer Experience to balance customer trust with business growth, hiring engineers, and shaping the long-term billing roadmap.

Qualifications

• Strong people leadership skills are essential.
• Hands-on coding and prototyping experience required.
• Ability to navigate ambiguity with a growth mindset.
• Proven track record of building and scaling engineering teams.
• Experience managing senior and staff engineers, including hiring and performance management.

Responsibilities

• Lead and expand the Billing engineering team focused on accurate usage-based charges.
• Own the roadmap for billing systems from usage metering to invoicing and financial reporting.
• Ensure billing correctness and reliability through monitoring and testing.
• Collaborate with Finance, Product, and Customer Experience to align on customer needs and pricing.
• Hire and develop engineers while maintaining team focus as billing scope grows.
• Make architectural decisions balancing long-term investments with immediate needs.
• Establish a performance management and career development framework for senior engineers.
