Job summary

MediaNews Group is seeking a Billing Specialist II to join our team. This role handles billing for all newspapers owned by MediaNews Group, including rating, billing, custom contracts, special pricing, contract entry, and adjustments.

Although described as remote, candidates must reside in Colorado or Ohio. You will generate advertising billing files, serve as the primary billing contact for local departments, research and resolve billing issues, train new staff, and assist with system testing

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business or combination of college education and experience preferred.
• Knowledge of automated billing systems (Mactive and/or PBS system preferred).

Responsibilities

• Generate advertising billing files, ensuring data accuracy prior to submission.
• Be the key contact for local advertising departments for billing issues.
• Research and troubleshoot billing issues from properties or internal questions.
• Train new employees on the system and data entry.
• Be responsible for testing and researching projects or system upgrades.
• Accounting process and controls knowledge.
• Ability to read and comprehend written instructions and financial documents.
• Demonstrated ability to create Excel spreadsheets using formulas as needed.
• Self-initiative, good interpersonal skills, attention to detail, team collaboration, and customer-focused mindset.
