Job summary

MediaNews Group is seeking an Accounts Receivable Specialist to join our team. This role handles credit and collections and assists with billing, cash receipts, and other accounting tasks.

The position is remote, 8:00am-5:00pm MST, Monday-Friday, but you must reside in Colorado or Ohio. You will monitor aging, perform credit analysis, and coordinate with Circulation and Advertising to resolve past due accounts.

Qualifications

• GED or high school diploma required.
• Experience in accounts receivable, credit and collections.
• Comfort with spreadsheets and 10-key data entry.
• Ability to analyze data and communicate with customers.

Responsibilities

• Monitor A/R aging and customer accounts to minimize past due amounts.
• Perform customer credit analysis as needed.
• Initiate collection calls, emails, faxes and letters.
• Collaborate with Circulation and Advertising managers on collection actions.
• Use and maintain A/R collections module in systems.
• Analyze customer revenue and A/R trends.
• Create Excel spreadsheets using formulas and 10 key proficiency.
• Apply solid accounting controls and processes.
• Provide strong customer service and teamwork.
• Familiarity with automated collections systems preferred.
• Proficiency with Gmail, MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Job description

MediaNews Group is seeking an Accounts Receivable Specialist to join our team! This position is responsible for credit and collections activities and will assist in billing, cash receipts, and other accounting tasks as needed.

The work schedule will be 8:00am - 5:00pm MST, Monday-Friday.

This is a remote position, but candidates must reside in Colorado or Ohio.

Responsibilities

• Monitor A/R aging and customer accounts to minimize past due accounts
• Perform customer credit analysis as needed
• Initiate collection calls, emails, faxes and letters
• Work with Circulation and Advertising Managers on escalating collection actions
• Use and maintain A/R collections module in Circulation and Advertising System(s)
• Perform Customer revenue and A/R trend analysis
• Ability to analyze and resolve problems with some supervision
• Accounting process and controls knowledge
• Demonstrated ability to create Excel spreadsheets using formulas as needed as well as 10 key proficiency
• Interpersonal skills and team collaboration skills, along with strong customer service skills
• Knowledge of automated collections/accounts Receivable/accounting systems preferred
• Proficiency with PC tools such as electronic mail software, word processor, presentation software, and spreadsheet software (Gmail, MSWord, PowerPoint, and Excel preferred)

The hourly range is $16.00 - $17.75 or required city/county minimum wage. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to geographic location, education, work experience, time in role, certifications, etc.
