Job summary

Community Health Systems is seeking a Remote Scheduling Specialist for the Patient Access Center. You will be the first point of contact for patients, handling appointment scheduling across clinics and coordinating with clinicians to ensure accurate, timely communications.

Responsibilities include verifying demographics and insurance, routing inquiries via EMR, and prioritizing urgent requests while delivering professional, patient-centered service in a remote environment.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required
• Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or related field preferred
• 1-3 years in scheduling/healthcare administration
• 1-3 years in physician/provider scheduling, patient appointment scheduling, or call center operations

Responsibilities

• Completes accurate patient appointment scheduling across multiple clinics.
• Receives inbound communication from clinicians, patients, and staff via phone, text, email, and/or call center platforms.
• Assesses caller needs and transfers urgent matters to clinic staff; routes non-urgent inquiries via EMR.
• Verifies patient demographics and insurance information.
• Researches patient requests within the medical record and resolves inquiries while maintaining confidentiality.
• Monitors EMR in-baskets and call center systems to manage workflows.
• Provides timely, professional service to patients, providers, and facility staff.
