Job summary

Pragmatike is a fast-growing technology company seeking a Backend Software Engineer to design, build, and scale integration-heavy backend services. You will work with TypeScript and NestJS to process large volumes of transactions and data, collaborating with product, engineering, and operations teams to build reliable systems that serve customers worldwide.

You will contribute to architecture, data models, observability, and tooling while owning projects end-to-end in a high-ownership culture.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional backend software engineering experience.
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript and experience building production systems with NestJS or similar Node.js frameworks.
• Proven experience designing and building scalable APIs and backend services.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, event-driven architectures, and asynchronous processing.
• Experience integrating with third-party APIs, webhooks, and external platforms.
• Solid system design skills for scalable, high-availability solutions.
• Experience with observability tools, monitoring, and production troubleshooting.
• Strong engineering practices, testing, and maintainability.
• Excellent communication and collaboration across technical/non-technical teams.
• Owns projects end-to-end in a remote environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services using TypeScript and NestJS.
• Architect scalable APIs, integrations, and event-driven systems.
• Build high-throughput workflows processing large transaction volumes.
• Design data models and service architectures for complex distributed systems.
• Develop asynchronous processing systems with queues and workers.
• Collaborate with Product and cross-functional teams to translate requirements into solutions.
• Improve platform reliability, performance, and operational efficiency.
• Implement observability with logging, monitoring, metrics, tracing, and alerts.
• Contribute to API design, developer experience, and internal tooling.
• Participate in architectural discussions and influence long-term strategy.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity and code quality.
• Take ownership from design to deployment and optimization.
