Job summary

Scrambly is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to help build the core systems powering millions of users. You will design scalable Node.js (NestJS) APIs and distributed services, ensuring fast, reliable performance for a global audience.

You’ll work in a fast-paced, mentorship-driven environment, collaborating with Product, Design, and QA to translate requirements into robust technical solutions and maintainable code.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, backend-focused.
• Proficiency in Node.js and NestJS.
• Strong system design skills with RESTful APIs and distributed systems.
• Experience with cloud platforms (GCP preferred; AWS/Azure acceptable).
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and IaC (Terraform/Helm).
• Relational (PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (Redis) databases; messaging queues like RabbitMQ.

Responsibilities

• Architect, build, and maintain scalable Node.js RESTful APIs and distributed systems.
• Mentor engineers through code reviews and pair programming.
• Monitor reliability, resolve bottlenecks, optimize CI/CD with DevOps collaboration.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and QA to translate requirements into robust specs.
