Job summary

Speechify, a leader in reading accessibility, seeks a backend engineer to design and own the core APIs for payments, subscriptions, auth, and the public TTS interface. You will ensure reliability and scale for millions of users across iOS, Android, web, and extensions.

This fully remote role collaborates with product, mobile, and web teams to keep backend architecture aligned with product direction, emphasizing automation, correctness, and measurable impact.

Qualifications

• Proven backend experience in TypeScript/Node.js.
• Direct experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and cloud tooling.
• Demonstrated ability to ship reliable, scalable services.
• A habit of sharing work and leaving clear ownership traces.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and own APIs for payments, subscriptions, auth, and TTS backend.
• Improve and harden services to be faster, cheaper, and resilient.
• Ensure changes are verified with logs, data state, and end-to-end checks.
• Automate repeatable tasks and elevate team efficiency.
• Collaborate with product, mobile, and web to align backend with roadmap.
