Speechify, a leader in AI-powered reading tools, seeks a backend engineer to design, build, and own APIs for payments, auth, subscriptions, and the public TTS API. You will optimize services, ensure correctness across multi-client systems, and push architecture forward with product, mobile, and web teams.

Qualifications

• Proven backend experience with TypeScript/Node.js in production.
• Experience designing and maintaining cloud-based architectures (GCP preferred).
• Strong ability to review and improve code bases with peers.
• Experience building or integrating AI-assisted automation or agents.
• Familiarity with monitoring, tracing, and logs to verify system correctness.
• Ability to balance speed with reliability in a distributed environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and own APIs for payments, subscriptions, auth, and TTS backend services.
• Optimize services to reduce cost, improve reliability, and prevent outages.
• Ensure correctness of changes by validating against logs, databases, and live requests.
