Job summary

Speechify, a leading text-to-speech platform, seeks a backend engineer to design and own APIs for payments, subscriptions, auth, tracking, and analytics. You will work across iOS, Android, Mac, Chrome, and web to keep services fast, reliable, and scalable.

Remote US-based role with autonomy, async culture, stock options, and competitive pay. Proficiency in TS/Node, GCP, and Kubernetes is highly valued, along with ownership mindset and strong debugging skills.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend development with TypeScript/Node.
• Experience with GCP; working knowledge of AWS or Azure.
• Proactive, ownership-driven contributor who ships.
• Familiar with AI agent workflows is a plus.
• Strong debugging, logging, and data integrity focus.
• Able to justify decisions and avoid unnecessary work.
• Experience with high-availability deployments is preferred.
• Preferred: Docker and containerized deployments; Kubernetes for HA.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and own APIs for payments, subscriptions, auth, and analytics.
• Improve services you didn't write to be faster, cheaper, and more reliable.
• Validate changes before shipping and maintain post-release checks.
• Automate repetitive parts of the role to enable scale.
• Turn one-off work into repeatable platform components.
• Design B2B and enterprise integrations for customers.
• Collaborate with product, mobile, and web to keep backend ahead.
