Reddit is hiring a Product Backend Engineer within the Consumer Engineering organization to partner with Product Managers, Designers, Data Scientists, ML Engineers, and Frontend Engineers to build and scale features used by hundreds of millions of users.

Responsibilities include end-to-end delivery, API design, experimentation, and mentoring in a fast-paced, remote or hybrid setting across the US. Strong backend experience is essential.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of backend development in large-scale distributed systems.
• Cross-functional collaboration with PMs, designers, and data scientists.
• Experience with cloud tooling and modern development workflows.

Responsibilities

• Cross-Functional Product Architecture: Partner with PM, Design, Data Science, and Client Engineers to translate business and user needs into reliable, low-latency technical solutions.
• End-to-End Delivery: Own the full software lifecycle for major product initiatives from design to rollout and observability.
• Metrics & Experimentation-Led Engineering: Design, build, and evaluate A/B experiments using analytics tools.
• API & System Performance: Build and maintain scalable APIs (GraphQL, REST, gRPC) and distributed backend services.
• Technical Rigor & Modern Tooling: Establish engineering best practices and mentor teammates with AI-assisted workflows.
