Job summary

Affirm, Inc. is seeking a hands-on mid-level engineer to help build and maintain backend services powering registration, login, authorization, and account lifecycle flows across B2C and B2B experiences.

You’ll work with Python or Kotlin, integrate Okta/Auth0/ForgeRock, and contribute across the SDLC with a focus on security and reliability. The role emphasizes mentorship, collaboration with product and security, and a remote-first environment with some in-person onboarding.

Qualifications

• Experience writing, testing, and debugging software in Python or Kotlin.
• Foundational backend development knowledge: APIs, databases, VCS.
• Interest in authentication and secure customer experiences; CIAM familiarity is a plus.
• Demonstrated problem solving and willingness to learn via mentorship and code reviews.

Responsibilities

• Build and ship authentication features from login to MFA and device binding.
• Develop backend services and APIs in Python or Kotlin for secure access.
• Integrate identity tech (Okta/Auth0/ForgeRock) across web, mobile, partners.
• Contribute to design, tests, reviews, and production deployments with the team.
• Improve reliability via debugging, logs, and metrics; collaborate with teams.
