Job summary

Affirm, Inc. is seeking a mid-level engineer to contribute to core CIAM capabilities that protect customers and support growth.

You will build backend services for registration, login, authorization, and account lifecycle across B2C and B2B experiences, collaborating with engineers and partner teams. You’ll work with Python or Kotlin, implement secure authentication features, and participate in the full software development lifecycle with an emphasis on security, reliability, and operational

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to write, test, and debug software in Python, Kotlin, or similar language through coursework, internships, or professional work.
• Foundational understanding of backend development, including APIs, data structures, databases, and version control.
• Interest in authentication and CIAM security with a willingness to learn through mentorship.

Responsibilities

• Build and ship authentication features from login to MFA and device binding with mentorship.
• Develop backend services and APIs in Python or Kotlin for secure account access.
• Integrate with identity platforms (Okta, Auth0, ForgeRock) for web, mobile, and partner apps.
• Contribute to design, write readable code and tests, review code, and deploy to production with team support.
• Debug services, improve reliability, and use logs/metrics to understand production behavior.
