Job summary

Aretum is seeking a skilled Backend Developer to provide expert technical support, maintenance, and enhancements for a client application in an Agile, sprint-based environment. The role emphasizes Python, AWS, RESTful APIs, databases, and scalable data solutions to ensure performance and integration with TypeScript front-end components.

Due to federal contracting work, candidates may handle CUI and must comply with safeguarding and compliance requirements.

Qualifications

• 5 years of backend development experience.
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience (3 years of additional experience is acceptable in lieu of a degree).
• Experience prototyping and deploying backend web applications.
• Experience using web programming languages (e.g., Ruby, Python) and web development frameworks (e.g., Django, Rails).
• Experience developing and consuming web-based, RESTful APIs.
• Experience with relational and non-relational database systems.
• Proficiency with scalable search technology.
• Competence in handling and scaling large data sets and their storage.
• Experience using version control systems.
• Experience working in a team environment that uses agile methodologies.
• Experience authoring developer-friendly documentation.
• Experience communicating technical concepts to a non-technical audience.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert technical support to maintain the client application
• Provide support for development, enhancements, accessibility, integration, optimization, and maintenance
• Ensure availability and correct operations
• Work within a sprint-based development cycle
• Utilize knowledge of the AWS cloud environment, Python backend and TypeScript front-end
