Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a Data Platform Engineer to modernize a healthcare data platform in a cloud-native AWS environment. You'll drive migrations, design scalable data architectures, and enable SQL-based reporting for business users.

You will collaborate with a .NET backend team and implement CI/CD with AWS tooling, IaC, and metadata management while ensuring compliance with Public Trust clearance requirements.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in software or data engineering with a strong AWS focus.
• Experience architecting and executing cloud data platform migrations in production environments.
• Track record of evaluating and selecting AWS data services to meet reporting needs.
• Experience delivering analytics solutions for non-technical users.
• Deep hands-on AWS data services: S3, Athena,Glue,Aurora,DynamoDB,Redshift,OpenSearch.
• Strong SQL for relational queries over structured and semi-structured data.
• Familiarity with XML/JSON data and XML-heavy stores.
• Experience with CI/CD and IaC (AWS CDK/CloudFormation/Terraform).

Responsibilities

• Lead modernization of a healthcare data platform.
• Architect cloud-native AWS data solutions for reporting and analytics.
• Evaluate AWS data services and architectures for cost and performance.
• Design reporting layers for SQL queries against healthcare data.
• Migrate XML object store data into the AWS platform.
• Maintain data catalogs, schemas, and metadata.
• Collaborate with back-end developers to ensure data flow, CI/CD pipelines.
• Document architecture decisions and data flows clearly.
