Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to drive the next phase of our AWS-based data platform modernization. You will design and implement cloud-native data architectures to support SQL-based reporting for healthcare data, collaborating with stakeholders and a C#/.NET team.

The role emphasizes evaluating AWS data services, building scalable data models, and delivering efficient, cost-conscious solutions in a fully remote U.S. setup.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software or data engineering experience with strong AWS focus.
• Proven experience architecting cloud data platform migrations in production environments.
• Track record of evaluating and selecting AWS data services to meet reporting needs.
• Experience delivering reporting or analytics solutions for non-technical users.
• Hands-on AWS data services: S3, Athena, Glue, Aurora, DynamoDB, Redshift, OpenSearch, Lambda, IAM, and CloudWatch.

Responsibilities

• Lead modernization of the healthcare data platform.
• Architect AWS data architecture for scalable reporting and queries.
• Define migration path from MSSQL XML object store to AWS platform.
• Build and maintain AWS data catalog, schemas, and metadata management.
• Collaborate with back-end engineers to ensure data flows from EDI pipelines.
