Job summary

Cognizant is seeking an AWS Cloud Migration Engineer to lead large-scale migrations from on-prem VMware to AWS in a remote role. You will assess VMware environments, plan migrations, build AWS infrastructure, automate deployment, and ensure post-migration stabilization.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in VMware and 3+ years in AWS, with hands-on MGN, IaC tools, and scripting (PowerShell, Python, PowerCLI). Strong collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in CS/IT/Engineering or related field.
5+ years of experience supporting VMware infrastructure environments.
3+ years designing and implementing AWS cloud solutions.
Proven experience leading VMware-to-AWS migration projects.
Strong scripting and automation with PowerShell, Python, Terraform, and CloudFormation.

Responsibilities

Assess existing VMware environments and plan migrations to AWS.
Plan, coordinate, and execute migrations of VMware VMs and workloads to AWS.
Design and configure AWS infrastructure components (VPC, EC2, IAM, SGs, S3, CloudWatch).
Automate migration and deployment using Terraform, CloudFormation, PowerShell, Python, and VMware PowerCLI.
Develop runbooks, validation plans, and cutover procedures; coordinate with cross-functional teams.
Maintain governance, documentation, and change management for migration activities.
