Job summary

Cognizant seeks an experienced AWS Cloud Migration Engineer to lead large-scale migrations from on-prem VMware to AWS. You will assess, plan, and execute migrations, build AWS environments, automate deployment, and ensure post-migration stabilization, all in a remote role.

The role requires 5+ years in VMware environments and 3+ years in AWS design/implementation, with hands-on MGN, scripting, and IaC; collaboration with multiple teams is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/IT/Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years supporting VMware infrastructure environments.
• 3+ years designing and implementing AWS cloud solutions.
• Proven experience leading or executing VMware-to-AWS migrations.
• Experience using AWS Application Migration Service (MGN) and migration tooling.
• Hands-on with AWS networking, security, IAM, and compute services.
• Strong scripting and automation skills: PowerShell, Python, VMware PowerCLI.
• IaC experience with Terraform and AWS CloudFormation.
• Excellent troubleshooting and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Assess existing VMware environments and plan migrations.
• Plan, coordinate, and execute migrations to AWS.
• Implement and manage AWS MGN and migration tooling.
• Develop runbooks, rollback procedures, and validation plans.
• Collaborate with infra, app, DB, network, and security teams.
• Perform cutovers and post-migration stabilization tasks.
• Maintain migration schedules, dashboards, and risk registers.
• Create technical docs, architecture diagrams, SOPs, and runbooks.
