Job summary

Cognizant is seeking an experienced AWS Cloud Migration Engineer to lead large-scale VMware-to-AWS migrations from on-prem to AWS. The role emphasizes assessment, planning, and execution with strong automation skills using PowerShell, Python, Terraform, and CloudFormation.

The position is remote within the United States, requires 5+ years in VMware, 3+ years in AWS design, and AWS MGN expertise. Collaboration with security, network, and applications teams is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years supporting VMware infrastructure environments.
• 3+ years designing and implementing AWS cloud solutions.
• Proven experience leading VMware-to-AWS migration projects.
• Strong scripting/automation with PowerShell, Python, and VMware PowerCLI.

Responsibilities

• Assess existing VMware vSphere environments and dependencies.
• Plan and execute migrations of VMware VMs to AWS; use AWS MGN.
• Design and deploy AWS infrastructure components (VPC, EC2, IAM, Security Groups, S3, CloudWatch).
• Automate migration and deployment using Terraform, CloudFormation, PowerShell, Python, and VMware PowerCLI.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams; create runbooks, validation plans, and cutover procedures.
• Perform post-migration validation, stabilization, and knowledge transfer.
