Job summary

Cognizant is seeking an experienced AWS Cloud Migration Engineer to lead large-scale migrations from on-prem VMware to AWS. The role emphasizes assessment, planning, and execution across VMware and AWS, with automation using Terraform, CloudFormation, PowerShell, Python, and VMware PowerCLI.

The position is remote in the United States, requiring strong collaboration with cross-functional teams and adherence to governance, security, and compliance during migration projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience supporting VMware infrastructure environments.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience designing and implementing AWS cloud solutions.
• Proven experience leading VMware-to-AWS migration projects.
• Strong understanding of cloud migration methodologies, assessment frameworks, and best practices.
• Hands-on experience with AWS MGn and migration tooling.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform and AWS CloudFormation.
• Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Assess VMware vSphere environments, ESXi, vCenter, clusters, networking, storage, and dependencies.
• Plan and execute migrations of VMware workloads to AWS.
• Implement and manage AWS Application Migration Service (MGN) and related tools.
• Develop migration runbooks, rollback procedures, and validation plans.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, application, database, network, and security teams.
• Perform cutovers and post-migration tasks to minimize downtime.
