Job summary
Caterpillar's Electric Power Division designs, develops, and implements generator control switchgear systems. You will deliver automation and control solutions for complex power systems from concept to commissioning, working independently and with teams.
Responsibilities include retrofits, design and testing of control systems, and providing customer and internal support. A strong background in PLC/HMI, electrical schematics, and cross-functional collaboration is needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in electrical engineering or related field.
- Experience with automation and controls including PLCs, HMIs, and DCS.
Responsibilities
- Identify retrofit opportunities and support proposal development with Dealer and Factory teams.
- Design, program, test, and commission low- and medium-voltage generator paralleling control systems.
- Convert legacy PLC programs and validate performance.
- Develop and modify PLC and HMI applications using standard templates.
- Produce wiring and assembly drawings with CAD teams.
- Provide technical support to Sales and Product Support centers; escalate when needed.
- Train technicians and customers on maintenance and operation of systems.
