Job summary

Caterpillar's Electric Power Division is seeking a qualified engineer to design, develop, and implement generator control switchgear systems. You will deliver automation and control solutions for complex power systems, driving retrofit and new projects from concept through commissioning.

The role requires hands-on PLC/HMI programming, experience with low- and medium-voltage paralleling systems, and collaboration with dealers, factories, and field teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Experience with automation and controls including PLCs, HMIs, and DCS.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and blueprints.
• Experience with cross-functional teams and field service support.
• Valid driver's license and ability to meet background and medical requirements.

Responsibilities

• Identify retrofit opportunities, define project scope, and support proposals.
• Execute design, programming, testing, and commissioning of LV/MV paralleling control systems.
• Convert legacy PLC programs and validate performance.
• Develop and modify PLC and HMI applications using standard templates.
• Collaborate with CAD to produce wiring and assembly drawings.
• Provide technical support to sales and product teams and train staff as needed.
