Job summary
Caterpillar’s Electric Power Division is seeking an Automation Engineer to advance design, development, and commissioning of generator control switchgear systems. You will deliver automation and control solutions for complex power systems, working both independently and with teams to drive retrofit and new projects from concept to commissioning.
You will identify opportunities, implement PLC/HMI applications, and support field performance while collaborating with CAD designers and Sales/Support
Qualifications
- Experience with automation and controls, including PLC-based systems, HMIs, and DCS.
- Ability to read electrical schematics and blueprints.
- Experience cross-functional with engineers, contractors, and end users.
Responsibilities
- Identify retrofit opportunities and define project scope with Dealer and Factory teams.
- Execute design, programming, testing, and commissioning of low- and medium-voltage generator control systems.
- Convert legacy PLC programs to current platforms and validate performance.
- Develop and modify PLC and HMI applications using standard templates.
- Collaborate with CAD designers for wiring and assembly drawings.
- Provide technical support and train technicians, customers, and internal teams.
