Job summary

Caterpillar is seeking an engineer for its Electric Power Division to design, develop, and implement generator control switchgear systems. You will deliver automation and control solutions for complex power systems, working both independently and with teams from concept through commissioning.

Responsibilities include design, programming, testing, and commissioning of LV/MV paralleling controls, converting legacy PLCs, and supporting field performance with technical risk assessments.

Qualifications

• Bachelors in Electrical Engineering or related field or equivalent experience.
• Experience with PLC-based systems, HMIs, and distributed control systems.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and blueprints.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to meet background/medical requirements.
• Experience working cross-functionally with engineers, contractors, and end users.

Responsibilities

• Identify retrofit opportunities, define project scope and support proposals.
• Execute design, programming, testing, and commissioning of control systems.
• Convert legacy PLC programs to current platforms and validate performance.
• Develop and modify PLC and HMI applications using templates.
• Partner with CAD designers to produce wiring drawings.
• Provide technical support to sales and product support teams.
• Submit project documentation, reports, and expenses on time.
• Train and support technicians and customers on system operation.
