Job summary

First Chicago Insurance Company seeks an experienced Litigation Claims Specialist to handle litigated and complex auto claims under Personal and Commercial auto policies.

You will determine coverage, gather evidence, and coordinate with defense counsel to advance claims toward settlements. The role emphasizes strong negotiation, analytical skills, and compliance with insurance regulations.

Qualifications

• 7-10 years auto claims handling experience.
• 5 years minimum of full-file auto claims experience for remote work.
• Knowledge of legal and medical terminology.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to pass state licensing exams to become a licensed adjuster.
• In-office onboarding with Work From Home flexibility (3/2).

Responsibilities

• Handle litgated and/or complex auto claims per established procedures.
• Determine coverage and draft reservations of rights letters.
• Investigate by securing statements and documents like police reports and medical bills.
• Manage litigation with defense counsel and experts, including declaratory actions.
• Maintain file diaries and document activity per regulations.
• Research case law and forms to adjust and conclude claims.
• Evaluate need for experts and field investigators.
• Prepare claim evaluations to secure settlement authority.
• Maintain indemnity and expense reserves.
• Conduct onsite reviews of defense counsel as needed.
