Job summary

Travelers is seeking an Outside Auto Appraiser to inspect damaged vehicles, estimate repairs, and determine actual cash value for settlements. You will work as a technical resource for auto claims, assisting claim professionals and communicating with customers.

The role supports remote work with mobile or home-based locations and requires strong automotive appraisal expertise, customer service, and proficiency with estimating software. A valid license and relevant experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent required.
• Active adjuster license where applicable.
• Two years auto physical damage appraisal experience.
• Proficient in claims management and estimating software.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to exercise sound judgement and make decisions.
• Exceptional customer service throughout the claim process.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Conflict resolution skills to reach equitable outcomes.
• Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new technology.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and assess vehicle damage through on-site or virtual inspections.
• Review estimates and collaborate with repair facilities for accuracy.
• Prepare repair estimates using industry-standard software.
• Evaluate and settle total losses using market data and valuation tools.
• Negotiate repair costs and settlements with shops and customers.
• Document pre-existing damage and potential fraud indicators.
• Coordinate repairs with claim representatives and vendors.
• Provide exceptional customer service and explain the process.
• Adapt to new technology implementations and digital tool rollouts.
