Job summary

Liberty Mutual Insurance is seeking an Associate Attorney to join our NY-focused legal team. This role involves handling moderately complex civil litigation matters related to personal injuries or property damage, with most work conducted remotely within New York and occasional required appearances.

You will support senior counsel, advise claims professionals and insured clients, and leverage e-discovery tools to improve efficiency while maintaining high professional standards and ethical

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) or LLB from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the New York bar in good standing; other licenses may be required.
• General knowledge of insurance law, workers’ compensation and/or No Fault law as needed.
• Proficient in e-discovery, case management systems, and basic legal analysis tools.
• Strong analytical, research, and legal writing skills.
• Strong negotiation and persuasion abilities; capable of handling cases under supervision.
• Excellent communication and collaboration with clients and senior attorneys.

Responsibilities

• Litigation execution: manage all phases of litigation from discovery to trial and prepare pleadings and motions.
• Provide clear legal opinions and strategic advice to claims representatives and insured clients.
• Utilize e-discovery and case management tech to streamline processes and coordinate with remote teams.
• Identify risks and collaborate with clients and senior counsel to facilitate resolutions.
• Ensure accuracy and compliance of all legal documents and filings.
• Maintain timely communication with insured clients and claims professionals.
• Contribute to organizational improvement within Staff Legal and Global Legal & Compliance teams.
