Job summary

SEH, an employee‑owned engineering, architectural, planning, and environmental firm, is seeking an Assistant Controller to lead all accounting operations, support the annual audit, and partner with senior leadership on financial strategy. This is a remote role open to most US states, with potential relocation consideration.

The selected candidate will manage close processes, treasury activities, GAAP compliance, and staff development, while collaborating with the Controller to drive continuous

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting required.
• CPA certification (active or inactive) preferred.
• Broad, hands-on expertise across end-to-end accounting operations including audits.

Responsibilities

• Lead all accounting operations including monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
• Proactively evaluate emerging accounting standards and regulatory changes.
• Build and maintain relationships with external auditors to support audits and controls.
• Manage treasury activities including daily cash positioning and forecasting.
• Ensure GAAP compliance and internal controls.
• Prepare and review financial statements and variance analyses.
• Partner with operations and leadership on budgeting and cost management.
• Lead, develop, and mentor accounting staff.
• Collaborate with the Controller on financial strategy and process improvements.
• Remote opportunity open to majority of US states; relocation optional.
