Job summary

SEH, an employee-owned engineering, architectural, planning and environmental firm, is seeking an Assistant Controller to join the Finance/Accounting team. You will lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close, support audits, and partner with the Controller on financial strategy.

This remote role is open to candidates across most US states. The ideal candidate has CPA, a Bachelor's in accounting, and experience managing accounting teams, with strong GAAP knowledge and ERP proficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required.
• CPA certification, active or inactive.
• Experience as Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller, or Controller.
• Experience in annual financial statement audits.
• End-to-end accounting ops across AP/AR, treasury, audits, close and reporting.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP.
• Proven ability to manage and develop accounting teams.
• Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong analytical, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead all accounting operations including monthly, quarterly, and annual close.
• Evaluate accounting standards and regulatory changes and advise leadership.
• Maintain relationships with external auditors to support audits and controls.
• Manage treasury activities: daily cash positioning, forecasting, bank relationships, covenant monitoring.
• Ensure GAAP compliance and adherence to internal controls and policies.
• Prepare and review financial statements, management reports, and variances.
• Partner with operations to support budgeting, forecasting, and cost management.
• Lead, develop, and mentor accounting staff.
• Collaborate with Controller on financial strategy and process improvements.
• Remote role open to candidates in majority of US states.
