Job summary

Newsela is seeking a Manager, Assessment Content to own strategy, quality, and execution across K–12 assessment content. You will lead a team of Content Designers and Contributors, shaping every item that ships and setting the bar for quality.

Reporting to the Director of A&A Portfolio, you’ll drive roadmaps, production targets, and a robust quality framework while partnering with Product, Engineering, Marketing and Customer teams. This is a fully remote role with strong benefits.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in assessment content development at commercial scale with 2+ years in a people-management role
• Demonstrated success leading teams that include senior individual contributors
• Fluency in CCSS, NGSS, and state standards across K–12 topics
• Expert understanding of educational assessment design across formative, summative contexts
• Experience managing freelance contributors and vendors at scale with quality calibration

Responsibilities

• Own the assessment content strategy and roadmap in collaboration with leadership
• Drive roadmap execution with team assignments, milestones, and vendor scopes
• Ensure cross-domain content coverage and timely production across subject areas
• Monitor state and national standard changes; maintain mappings and elevate risks
• Lead the assessment content team; coach, performance reviews, and bench development
• Scope and manage large-scale projects with designers, freelancers, and vendors
• Own the quality framework and conduct calibration sessions across domains
• Drive operational excellence through repeatable processes and tooling
• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Customer teams on content tooling and outputs
• Take on other duties as assigned
