Job summary

Cognizant Technology Solutions Corporation is seeking an AS400 Technical Lead – COBOL & RPG to lead end-to-end delivery across AS400 environments and provide hands-on coding in COBOL/400, RPG, and CL. You will guide cross-functional teams, manage dependencies, and present executive status updates to leadership.

The role emphasizes strong communication with client stakeholders, delivery governance, and feasibility assessments, with a remote work option across the United States.

Qualifications

• 9+ years of IT experience, with strong AS400 applications experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with AS400 environments.
• Proficient in RPG and COBOL/400.
• Experience with CLLE and SQLRPGLE.
• Experience with DB2/400.
• Experience leading technical delivery and cross-functional teams.
• Strong stakeholder and client-facing communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end delivery and hands-on coding across AS400, COBOL, RPG, and CL environments, ensuring scope, quality, and timelines.
• Lead cross-functional technical teams, driving productivity, capacity planning, and delivery governance for onshore and offshore models.
• Serve as primary stakeholder interface with client SMEs, resolve dependencies, and secure sign-offs on business rules.
• Provide clear executive status reporting to leadership on progress, risks, financials, and mitigation plans.
