Job summary

Boomerang Healthcare is seeking an AR Follow-Up Specialist to manage California Medicare and Commercial follow-up, WC billing, and denial prevention within the RCM team. You will coordinate with billing, coding, and authorization teams to optimize reimbursement and reduce DSO.

You will conduct payer outreach, monitor claim status, resolve denials, and support timely filing across multiple payers. This remote role accepts applicants in AZ, CA, NM, NV, OR, TX and WA.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 3+ years of AR follow-up with focus on CA Medicare and Commercial billing.
• Working knowledge of Workers’ Compensation billing and state rules.
• Experience managing mixed payer AR inventories with competing timelines.
• Fast-paced environment, able to meet daily deadlines and collaborate with RCM teams.
• Experience with multiple EHR/PM systems (IMS, NextGen, Athena, eCW).
• Basic understanding of NCCI edits and payer billing guidelines.
• Strong verbal/written communication and attention to detail.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and other Office apps.

Responsibilities

• Perform timely follow-up on CA Medicare, Commercial, and WC claims for prompt adjudication.
• Direct outreach to payers and contractors to obtain claim status and documentation.
• Resolve rejections, underpayments, and incorrect fee applications across payers.
• Track WC payer timelines and state-mandated payment rules.
• Monitor timely filing, medical necessity, eligibility, COB, and modifier accuracy.
• Coordinate with authorization teams to verify documentation before billing.
• Escalate delayed or complex cases to internal or external partners.
• Identify opportunities to appeal underpayments or denials and prepare letters.
