Job summary

Boomerang Healthcare seeks an AR Follow-Up Specialist to manage California Medicare, commercial, and workers’ compensation follow-ups in a remote setting. You will contact payers, verify authorizations, and ensure timely adjudication across interesting payer mixes.

Demonstrated experience with AR analytics, denial management, and a fast-paced environment is essential. This role supports the RCM team with a focus on improving cash flow and reducing DSO.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 3+ years of AR follow-up experience focused on CA Medicare and Commercial billing.
• Knowledge of Workers’ Compensation billing including adjuster communication, state rules, medical necessity, and required documentation.
• Experience managing mixed payer AR inventories with competing timelines and requirements.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, meet daily deadlines, and collaborate with cross-functional RCM teams.
• Experience with multiple EHR / Practice Management systems (IMS, NextGen, Athena, eClinicalWorks, or similar).
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables) and solid skills in other Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Perform timely follow-up on CA Medicare, Commercial, and WC claims to ensure prompt adjudication.
• Direct outreach to payers to obtain claim status, authorization verification, and required documentation.
• Resolve claim rejections, underpayments, and incorrect fee schedule applications across payer types.
• Monitor WC payer timelines and state-mandated payment rules.
• Escalate delayed or complex cases to internal teams or external partners.
• Prepare and submit appeal letters and supporting documentation.
• Identify and report recurring denial trends and collaborate to prevent recurrence.
