Job summary

McGraw Hill seeks a Manager, Applied AI Engineering to lead and personally contribute to building scalable AI-powered applications. You will guide AI-native teams, mentor engineers, and own critical enterprise AI initiatives, ensuring security, compliance, and timely delivery.

You will work with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure), modern tooling, and a broad stack (Python/Go/TypeScript) to ship production-grade AI solutions for millions of users in a remote US-based role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 2 years in leadership.
• Experience leading AI-native engineering teams and shipping enterprise-scale AI applications.
• Hands-on experience with generative AI, LLM-based systems, and prompt engineering best practices.
• Strong collaboration with business units and leadership.
• Experience with cloud platforms and modern development tools.
• Ability to manage budgets and ensure compliance and security.

Responsibilities

• Lead as people manager and tech lead on enterprise AI initiatives.
• Design and implement agentic and LLM-based systems.
• Manage AI engineers and cost budgets.
• Set technical standards for prompt engineering, RAG, orchestration.
• Ensure releases with CI/CD and automation.
• Mentor and develop team skills.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and ensure security/privacy.
